Meet John and Gail
John and Gail are never at home – and they blame their campervan!
Since we’ve had our fabulous Sussex Campervan we haven’t been home much! It’s just so easy – we load up and away we go. If it’s not trips to see our grandchildren (one lot in the north and the others on the south coast), we’ll see what takes our fancy and go where we want – here in the UK or abroad.
We recently went to the F1 Grand Prix in Monza, Italy. It wasn’t far from Venice so we jumped back in the van and headed to the ‘City of Love’. We wanted to visit London next, and we’ve since had three weeks’ holiday in France.
We have a converted Vivaro, which is super. It travels really well on motorways and we get a lot of admiring looks when we’re travelling.
We’re so glad we made the investment. It’s given us a whole new way of life and we’re thoroughly enjoying seeing more of the world from the comfort of our van. Whatever did we do before we had our campervan?
Meet Jim and Joy
Jim and his wife Joy are retired and use their Manhattan MPV and 45-year-old MG Midget to explore the UK
We’re retired with no dependants, so we can head off when we like – and we wanted to make the most of that. We’ve always enjoyed camping holidays, fresh air and scenery, and I was keen to pack in some more adventures. So Joy and I researched our options and booked a visit to Sussex Campervans.
There was a lovely Manhattan in the workshop that was in the early stages of conversion. We could still choose the colours and fabrics and change the standard interior. With the chance to have it customised, we decided to go for it. We took delivery of our lovely new Manhattan MPV in Panorama Blue in 2015.
Since then we’ve had lots of adventures. The van is easy to drive and trips need very little planning. We’ve toured the West Country, Wales and the Outer Hebrides. We’ve been to the South of France, Spain and Portugal in the camper, bringing back wonderful wine and memories. We take Brittany Ferries’ routes to Spain – and the roads are quiet.
I have a beautifully restored 45-year-old MG Midget that I love taking to rallies. The Manhattan has enough ‘grunt’ to tow the Midget on a transporter, so we take my favourite car on holiday. Then on race days I get a good night’s sleep in the camper before hitting the tracks.
We love our carefree life with the campervan – sometimes we just flip a coin at the end of the drive to decide if we’ll turn left or right.
