The West Country is a popular place for a UK break. Stunning coastal views, rich in history and home to the jurassic coast - it's not hard to see why many couples and families flock there once the summer hits. If you're looking for a campsite for your next trip, look no further.

South Lytchett Manor Caravan & Camping Park

Lytchett Minster, Poole BH16 6JB
01202 622 577
Open 1st March to 2nd January

Karen: “I wish I’d stayed longer, but I just needed a night to break my journey before catching the ferry from Poole to Jersey, and South Lytchett Manor was in the perfect location. It’s also a good site for visiting Brownsea Island, ancient Wareham, Corfe Castle and Swanage, with its steam railway, fish and chips and sandy beach. On the 20-acre parkland site itself there are good level touring pitches with all the washing facilities close by. There’s a children’s play area, shop and laundry room.”

Eype House Caravan & Camping Park

Mount Lane, Eype, Bridport DT6 6AL
01308 424 903
Open April to late October

Colin: “I don’t like big campsites, so this 4.5-acre site next to the sea is perfect for me, my dog and my campervan. It’s on the SW Coast Path and as it’s the Jurassic Coast you can find fossils on the beach, or visit Bridport’s markets and shops, see West Bay or go on fishing trips and rib rides. It’s not far to visit genteel Lyme Regis for shops, eateries and the iconic harbour. I also love the Hive Cafe on the beach at Burton Bradstock. Eype House site has a shower block, laundry facilities, a shop, tea room and garden and there’s a pub close to the site.”

Highlands End Holiday Park

Eype, Bridport DT6 6AR
01308 422 139
Open February to November

Sue: “This family campsite has an indoor pool, a shop, cafe and good facilities, while still offering peace and a beautiful natural location. The Anchor Inn at Seatown is a short walk away and offers excellent food, though it gets very busy in peak season. Pitches have sea views and it’s a short walk to the beach. You’re on the South West Coast Path, so it’s highly recommended for walkers and those with dogs.”

Wareham Forest Tourist Park

North Trigon, Wareham BH20 7NZ
01929 551 393

Martin: “As well as quiet woodland pitches there is a licensed shop, outdoor pool, adventure playground and a playing field. 150 pitches are hardstandings with electric hook-ups, and some of them have aerial points and drainage. From here you can visit Abbotsbury and Corfe Castle.”

Longthorns Farm

Bere Regis, Wareham BH20 6HH
01929 401 539

Bude C&CC site

Gillards Moor, St Gennys, Bude, Cornwall EX23 0BG

Full facilities.” From here you can explore rocky Bodmin Moor and the North Cornish coast. You’ll find Bronze Age sites and Neolithic hilltop enclosures and ruined medieval tin mines. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the highest points are Rough Tor and Brown Willy. Stroll around Boscastle village and if you’re lucky you might see water shooting up from the blowhole in the rock cliffs beside the harbour. Visit Crackington Haven’s pretty sand and shingle beach.
